Lighting Gear

We had a chance to go to Paris earlier this year and during our visit we made a trip to a weekend flea market. Port de Vanves is one of those markets that span a couple of city streets in the middle of a neighborhood and is crammed with bric-a-brac and a whole lot of junk. We went there with the sole purpose of hunting for wall sconces for the kitchen. Low and behold Huan came up with this beauty:

The lady we bought it from said it dates back to the early 1900’s. Although the disk in the middle was originally for a gas flame, I’m not sure if this thing is as old as she said it was. We decided to get it because it looked cool and it articulates. The wiring was pretty old so after a trip to the lamp store to modernize the innards, it’s ready to be put on the wall.

We loved them (it has a twin) so much we were willing to check in our luggage just to bring it back home safely. (Those of ya’ll who know us know we NEVER check in luggage.)
